Seminole Sunday Sauce — Feb. 16, 2025: FSU Baseball Kicks Off Season with Two Convincing Wins

Two days into the college baseball season, Florida State baseball has already won a series.

The Seminoles opened the 2025 season with a pair of convincing wins over James Madison. After winning the opener 6-0 on Friday, FSU rolled to a 9-2 victory on Saturday.

In the opener, Jamie Arnold and John Abraham combined to strike out 18 in a 2-hit shutout. Drew Faurot provided the first runs of the season with a 3-run home run in the third inning. Faurot finished with two of FSU’s four hits.

In the second game, FSU finished with four home runs and 10 hits. Gage Harrelson set the tone with a lead-off homer.

Faurot, Max Williams and Alex Lodise also went deep for the Seminoles. Lodise finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Faurot added three RBIs.

Joey Volini allowed just an unearned run on two hits in 4.2 innings to earn the win. FSU will go for the series sweep on Sunday. It will hit the road for the first time on Tuesday at South Florida.
