Seminole Sunday Sauce — Feb. 9, 2025: FSU Hoops Coach Hamilton to Resign at Season’s End
As Florida State men’s basketball tries to finish the season strong, it will have a little extra motivation — a solid sendoff for head coach Leonard Hamilton.
The program announced earlier this week that Hamilton will not be returning for a 24th season. A 3-time ACC Coach of the Year, Hamilton is the winningest coach in FSU history.
In 23 seasons, Hamilton has guided the Seminoles to more than 450 wins, eight NCAA Tournament appearances and the program’s only two ACC championships. Under Hamilton, FSU has reached the Sweet 16 four times with an Elite Eight appearance in 2018.
Under Hamilton, FSU has been known for its defense, depth and length. Off the court, however, FSU has also been commended for its high graduation rate.
The first game since the announcement was a victory for FSU as the Seminoles topped Notre Dame on Tuesday night in Tallahassee, 67-60. Jamir Watkins led FSU with 21 points. Malique Ewen added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
