Seminole Sunday Sauce — Dec. 29, 2024: FSU Football in Position for Top-10 Transfer Class
After its worst season in 50 years, Florida State football is hoping that some new faces lead to a turnaround in 2025. For now, the Seminoles have added 11 players via the transfer portal.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, FSU currently has the No. 6 transfer class. Following a dismal year in the trenches, FSU has added four offensive lineman thus far headlined by former Ole Miss All-SEC Freshman Micah Pettus and 2024 Wake Forest All-ACC center Luke Petitbon. FSU has also added Adrian Medley (UCF) and Gunnar Hansen (Vanderbilt) up front.
On the defensive side of the ball, edge rusher James Williams and linebacker Stefon Thompson will follow new defensive coordinator Tony White from Nebraska. Williams had 5.5 sacks last season. Former Western Kentucky defensive lineman Deante McCray is also in the fold for 2025.
At the skill position, former Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos is among the headliners. Castellanos had nearly 5,000 yards from scrimmage and 47 touchdowns over the last two seasons with the Eagles.
USC transfer and 6-foot-6 wide receiver Duce Robinson, son of former FSU receiver Dominic Robinson, is expected to make a big splash after averaging better than 17 yards per catch and hauling in five touchdowns in 2024 for the Trojans. Tight ends Randy Pittman (UCF), a versatile target, and Markeston Douglas (Arizona State), who played for FSU from 2020 through 2023, round out the current class.
Following a 2-10 season, FSU is hoping that the incoming transfers make a major impact next season. Combining transfers and incoming freshmen, the Seminoles currently own the No. 18 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.
