Seminole Sunday Sauce — Dec. 22, 2024: FSU Football’s Mastromanno Leaves Program as Consensus All-American

For Florida State football, the 2024 season was one to forget. For senior punter Alex Mastromanno, however, that wasn’t the case.

The native of Australia will instead leave Tallahassee as a Consensus All-American. After earning first-team status from Walter Camp, the American Football Writers Association (AFWA), the Associated Press and American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Mastromanno narrowly missed earning Unanimous All-American honors as he was recognized as a second-team selection by the Sporting News.

Mastromanno becomes the 46th Consensus All-American in FSU history. Shawn Powell, in 2011, is the only other punter to earn that distinction.

A 2-time All-ACC selection, Mastromanno led the nation this season by averaging 49.3 yards per punt. His 45.6 net yards per punt ranks second in the nation.

Mastromanno will leave Tallahassee as the program’s all-time leader in punts, punting yards, and average. He was a Ray Guy Award finalist in each of the last two seasons.
