Seminole Sunday Sauce — May 12, 2024: FSU Men Tennis Drops Heartbreaker in Sweet 16

For the second time in three years, Florida State men’s tennis reached the Sweet 16. For the second time in three years, its run ends in Knoxville.

Unlike last time when FSU was swept, Saturday’s matchup came down to the wire. No. 7 Tennessee’s Angel Diaz was able to beat 10th-seeded FSU’s Youcef Rihane in a third-set tiebreaker as the Volunteers prevailed, 4-3.

After taking the doubles point, FSU grabbed a 3-1 lead. Alex Bulte and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif each won singles matches in straight sets. Tennessee won the last three singles matches.

This season culminated in FSU’s first ACC championship ever. The Seminoles finish the year with a record of 23-8.
