Seminole Sunday Sauce — May 19, 2024: FSU Softball on Cusp of Super Regional

Florida State softball will have two chances to beat Auburn one time to advance to the NCAA Super Regional round as NCAA Tournament play continues on Sunday.

The 15th-seeded Seminoles have kicked postseason off with a pair of wins. Things didn’t come easy on Friday night, but FSU found a way to rally past Chattanooga, 3-2. On Saturday, the Seminoles got the better of UCF, 5-1.

FSU trailed 2-0 to the Mocs on Friday night before getting on the board on a Hallie Wacaser RBI single in the fifth. In the sixth, the Seminoles went ahead for good with two runs. Following Isa Torres’ game-tying single, Devyn Flaherty’s RBI triple was the difference in the comeback win. Jahni Kerr finished with two hits in the win, including a triple in the fifth.

On Saturday, all five FSU runs came in the second inning. Kalei Harding’s 2-run double highlighted the frame. Both teams managed just four hits. Mimi Gooden earned the win for FSU.

Despite a rain-plagued first two days, the Tallahassee Regional is set to be complete on Sunday. FSU and Auburn will play at 4 p.m. ET. Should the Tigers win, the teams would play again in a winner-take-all.
