Seminole Sunday Sauce — May 5, 2024: FSU Men’s Tennis Headed to Sweet 16 for Second Time in Three Years
For the second time in three seasons, Florida State men’s tennis is bound for the Sweet 16.
The 10th-ranked Seminoles defended their home court with a pair of 4-1 wins in the Tallahassee Regional. FSU opened the NCAA Tournament by topping North Florida on Friday before downing UCF on Saturday.
Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc clinched the victory over the No. 71 Ospreys on Friday with a 7-5, 6-2 victory. Loris Pourroy and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif were also straight-set winners for the Seminoles.
On Saturday, FSU lost only the doubles point. Cornut-Chauvinc again clinched the victory for FSU. The Seminoles didn’t lose a single set to No. 36 UCF.
Going back to the regular season, FSU has now won seven straight matches. The Seminoles will head to Knoxville to take on No. 7 Tennessee on Saturday. The Volunteers blanked FSU in its last Sweet 16 appearance in 2022.
