Seminole Sunday Sauce — March 24, 2024: FSU Women’s Hoops’ Season Ends with NCAA Tourney Loss to Alabama

Another memorable season for Florida State women’s basketball has come to an end. The ninth-seeded Seminoles fought valiantly but were ultimately eliminated by No. 8 seed Alabama in the NCAA Tournament on Friday.

The contest was close throughout but the Crimson Tide appeared to be on the verge of pulling away late by building a 13-point fourth-quarter lead. FSU, however, was able to claw back to within two before Aaliyah Nye hit a big 3-pointer for Alabama. Makayla Timpson’s shot at the basket rimmed out on the other end and the Crimson Tide were able to make their free throws.

Ta’Niya Latson led FSU with 25 points and five assists. Timpson added 23 points on 11-for-21 shooting to go with 11 rebounds and three blocks. Sara Bejedi added 11 points. Essence Cody led Alabama with 20 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks.

Although FSU was unable to advance, the Seminoles have now reached 11 straight NCAA Tournaments. FSU finishes the season with a record of 23-11.
