Seminole Sunday Sauce — Nov. 12, 2023: FSU Football Downs Miami to Move to 10-0
It was too close for comfort, but No. 4 Florida State football’s quest for perfection remains intact. The Seminoles scored 17 straight points in the second half to edge rival Miami on Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium, 27-20.
Miami scored 13 straight points to take a 13-10 lead early in the third quarter, but FSU used a field goal, a Trey Benson touchdown run and a touchdown pass from Jordan Travis to Keon Coleman to seize control. The Hurricanes were able to cut the 27-13 lead in half on an 85-yard touchdown strike from Emory Williams to Jacolby George, but Jarrian Jones’ interception of Tyler Van Dyke with less than two minutes to play sealed the win.
Benson finished with 80 yards rushing and two touchdowns in the win. Travis passed for 265 yards. George led all receivers with five catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns.
With the win, FSU moved to 10-0 and finished perfect in ACC play during the regular season for the first time since 2014. The Seminoles have now won three straight over Miami.
FSU will play its final home game on Saturday against North Alabama. The Seminoles have won 16 straight games dating back to last season.
