Seminole Sunday Sauce — March 23, 2025: FSU Women’s Hoops Rolls to Round of 32
For the first time since 2019, Florida State women’s basketball is headed to the round of 32. The sixth-seeded Seminoles rolled to a 94-59 victory over No. 11 seed George Mason in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday night, 94-59.
FSU led by as many as 20 points in the first half before the Patriots closed to within seven in the third quarter. From there, it was all Seminoles.
Up 63-53 after three quarters, FSU outscored George Mason 31-6 in the final period. As a team, FSU shot 57% from the field.
Ta’Niya Latson led the way with 28 points in the win. Makayla Timpson and O’Mariah Gordon each added 18 points. Timpson led all rebounders with 11.
The win in Baton Rouge is the first NCAA Tournament victory under head coach Brooke Wyckoff. The Seminoles will take on host and No. 3 seed LSU on Monday for a spot in the Sweet 16. FSU hasn’t reached the Sweet 16 since 2017.
