Seminole Sunday Sauce — March 2, 2025: FSU Women’s Hoops Knocks Off Top-25 Foes in Back-to-Back Road Games

After a rough home stretch earlier in the month, Florida State women’s basketball has now won four straight games. The last two have featured a program first.

For the first time in program history, FSU defeated AP-ranked teams in consecutive road games. After knocking off No. 20 Georgia Tech on Sunday, the Seminoles went to South Bend on Thursday night and stunned No. 3 Notre Dame.

Playing without star guard Ta’Niya Latson on Sunday, it was the Sydney Bowles show in Atlanta. Bowles scored a career-high 32 points to go with six assists as the Seminoles pulled out a 73-70 victory.

After the Yellow Jackets used a 19-9 run to tie the contest, Makayla Timpson was the hero for FSU, scoring the go-ahead basket with 32 seconds left to put the Seminoles in front for good. Timpson finished with 19 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks.

With Latson back in the lineup on Thursday night, FSU erased an early 15-point deficit to stun the Fighting Irish, 86-81. The Seminoles trailed 29-14 before closing the first half on a 30-11.

Notre Dame took a 53-52 lead in the third quarter, but FSU responded with a 10-0 run and never trailed again. Latson led FSU with 23 points and nine assists, passing the 2,000-point mark for her career while also becoming the program’s all-time leader in made free throws. Timpson became the Seminoles’ all-time rebounds leader during a 22-point, 17-board effort.

With the wins, FSU is now 23-6 on the season and 13-4 in conference. The Seminoles are currently in a 4-way tie for third place in the ACC. They’ll wrap up the regular season at home on Sunday against No. 16 Duke.
