Seminole Sunday Sauce — Sept. 8, 2024: FSU Football Disappoints in Home Opener, Falls to 0-2

Big expectations have unfortunately not brought big results for Florida State football so far in 2024.

On Monday night, No. 10 FSU fell to 0-2 on the season with an embarrassing 28-13 home loss to Boston College. The Seminoles never led in the contest and finished with less than 300 yards of total offense.

Boston College, on the other hand, went for 263 yards on the ground. Thomas Castellanos passed for two touchdowns for the Eagles. Former FSU running back Treshaun Ward led all players with 138 yards from scrimmage and a receiving touchdown for Boston College.

FSU twice closed to within one score, but could get nothing going offensively over the final 20 minutes. A 29-yard touchdown pass from DJ Uiagalelei to Kentron Poitier served as the only touchdown for the Seminoles. Poitier finished with a game-high 79 yards receiving.

With the loss, FSU fell to 0-2 for the third time in five years under head coach Mike Norvell. With an extended rest, the Seminoles will try to get in the win column on Saturday against Memphis.
