Seminole Sunday Sauce — Aug. 11, 2024: FSU Soccer Opens as Preseason No. 1

Women’s college soccer’s reigning national champions will begin the 2024 season where they left off in 2023 — ranked No. 1.

Florida State soccer claimed the top spot in the preseason United Soccer Coaches Poll. The Seminoles finished undefeated last season with only a draw en route to their fourth national championship.

FSU received all eight first-place votes in the poll. Five of the top eight spots were occupied by ACC teams.

Unsurprisingly, FSU was also picked to win the ACC by the conference’s coaches, receiving 15 of the 17 first-place votes. Forward Jordynn Dudley, midfield Taylor Huff and defender Heather Gilchrist were each named to the preseason All-ACC team.

FSU fans won’t have to wait long for the start of the season. The Seminoles are scheduled to open things on Thursday against South Florida.
