Seminole Sunday Sauce — July 28, 2024: FSU Football Opens Fall Camp

Fresh off its best season in a decade, Florida State football opened fall camp on Wednesday.

The Seminoles finished 13-1 last season and as ACC champions for the first time since 2014. FSU will enter 2024 with a bit of a new-look roster. Perhaps the most notable change is at quarterback where Oregon State transfer DJ Uiagalelei is expected to take over for Jordan Travis.

On the defensive side of the ball, defensive end Marvin Jones Jr. comes over from Georgia. Fellow defensive linemen Patrick Payton and Joshua Farmer along with cornerbacks Fentrell Cypress and Azareye'h Thomas are among the key pieces to the defense. The offensive line and running back Lawrance Toafili are expected to be the biggest strengths on offense.

FSU is entering its fifth year under head coach Mike Norvell. Norvell, Payton, Farmer, and offensive lineman Darius Washington represented the Seminoles this week at ACC Kickoff — the conference’s media days.

The preseason All-ACC team and media projections for the 2024 season are expected to be released this week. FSU opens the season in Dublin, Ireland on Aug. 24 against Georgia Tech.
