Seminole Sunday Sauce — March 10, 2024: FSU Women’s Hoops Makes Impressive Run to ACC Semis

Florida State women’s basketball made its presence felt in Greensboro for the ACC Tournament. The sixth-seeded Seminoles picked up two wins before ultimately falling to No. 10 NC State, the tournament’s No. 2 seed, in the semifinals on Saturday.

FSU kicked things off with a convincing 70-53 win over No. 14 seed Wake Forest on Thursday night. It was domination from the start as the Seminoles led by 20 points at halftime and never looked back.

Makayla Timpson, a first-team All-ACC and ACC Defensive Team selection, led FSU with 22 points, 13 rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Ta’Niya Latson, another ACC first teamer, added 19 points. O’Mariah Gordon chipped in with 12.

FSU advanced to the semifinals with a dominating 78-65 win over No. 20 Syracuse on Friday night. FSU led by as many as 27 points over the ACC’s third seed.

Latson led the way with 25 points before fouling out. Gordon had another nice game with 24 points. Timpson and Sara Bejedi each added 10 points. Timpson had a monster game on the glass with 18 rebounds.

FSU ultimately met its match on Saturday in a 69-43 loss to the Wolfpack. Latson led FSU with 16 points but on just 6-for-19 shooting.
