Seminole Sunday Sauce — Aug. 7, 2022: FSU Baseball’s Messick, Hubbart, Roberts Sign with MLB Teams

Last month, Florida State baseball had three players selected in the 2022 Major League Baseball Draft. All three have signed with their big-league clubs.

Left-handed pitcher Parker Messick, who went in the second round to the Cleveland Guardians has signed for $1.3 million. The No. 54 overall pick finished with a 7-5 record and 3.38 ERA last season for the Seminoles. He struck out 144 batters in nearly 99 innings of work.

Bryce Hubbart, FSU’s other left-handed starter, has signed with the Cincinnati Reds for $522,500. Hubbart may have had the best statistical year for FSU pitchers in 2022, finishing 8-3 with a 3.32 ERA. Hubbart was selected 94th overall in the third round.

The lone position player from FSU selected, Brett Roberts, signed with the Miami Marlins for $100,000. A 16th-round pick, Roberts was selected 472nd overall. A transfer from Tennessee Tech, the infielder hit .300 with five home runs and 25 RBIs last season for the Seminoles.
