Wright On Time! Winston Wright Jr. Commits To FSU

FSU Lands A Third Impact Transfer In The Last Week

Florida State adds to the top ranked transfer class in the country with former West Virginia standout wide receiver Winston Wright Jr. He’s the fourth fresh faces in the WR room come spring practice, all added through the transfer portal.ย

Wright Jr. has played 3 seasons of college football and gained 1,241 yards receiving over the last two seasons, where he found himself in a significant role in the Mountaineers’ offense. Wright Jr. led the WVU offense this past season with 63 receptions, 688 yards, and 5 touchdowns. ย

Raising The Ceiling

Florida Stateโ€™s leading receiver in 2021 amounted to just 382 yards on 23 catches, and the three WRs previously taken through the transfer portal this offseason are largely unproven at the college level. This infusion of talent and past production is what the FSU staff was ideally looking for this offseason through the transfer portal. They now have their haul of new pass-catchers all in for the spring.ย

Wright Jr. Should fit nicely into the slot and prove dangerous as an athlete in the open field. Wright’s athleticism is something Florida State did not have on the offensive side of the ball this past season. Wright Jr. can also provide a boost in the return game, where he returned two kickoffs for touchdowns in his three years at WVU and ranked 19th nationally in average yards per return with 26.9.
