The Daily Sauce — Sept. 26, 2022: FSU Soccer Rolls Past Clemson in Top-15 Matchup, 3-1

Florida State soccer’s hot streak continued on Sunday as the Seminoles rolled past No. 14 Clemson, 3-1.

Jody Brown scored a pair of goals and added an assist as FSU won its sixth straight match. Maria Alagoa also scored for the Seminoles. Beata Olsson, Onyi Echegini, Clara Robbins and Olivia Garcia each added assists in the victory.

For the second match in a row, FSU did give up a goal on a penalty kick. In the 87th minute, Clemson’s Makenna Morris got the Tigers on the board.

FSU outshot the Tigers 12-7 in the victory. Clemson goalkeeper Halle Mackiewicz and FSU’s Cristina Roque each finished with three saves.

With the win, FSU moves to 7-0-2 on the season and 3-0 in ACC play. FSU is slated to head south for a matchup with Miami on Saturday.

FSU football is ranked No. 22 in the latest AFCA Coaches Poll. The Seminoles are ranked No. 23 in the AP Poll.

Through two rounds of the Schooner Fall Classic, FSU women’s golf is in first place. The Seminoles hold a 6-stroke lead over host and second-place Oklahoma.

The ACC will announce game times and networks for the Oct. 8 slate of football games on Monday.

Players of the week for various sports will be announced by the ACC on Monday.
