The Daily Sauce — Sept. 20, 2022: FSU’s Johnny Wilson Named ACC Receiver of the Week

It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans.

As you trek forward, see what’s in The Daily Sauce.

Lead Story

For the second time in as many games, Florida State football has the ACC Receiver of the Week. For the second time in as many games, his last name is Wilson.

After Ontaria Wilson earned the honor following FSU’s 24-23 win over LSU on Sept. 4, Johnny Wilson got the nod this week. The 6-foot-7 Wilson had a monster night in the Seminoles’ 35-31 win over Louisville on Friday.

Wilson finished with seven catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner with less than eight minutes to play. The 149 yards is the most for an FSU receiver since Tamorrion Terry finished with 156 yards in a 38-31 win over Boston College in November 2019.

The season is young, but Wilson currently ranks third in the ACC with 260 yards receiving. His 23.6 yards per catch average ranks second in the conference. At 3-0, Wilson and the Seminoles will look to stay perfect when they take on Boston College on Saturday.
