The Daily Sauce — Sept. 16, 2022: FSU Football a Road Favorite for First Time Under Norvell

It’s Friday, Florida State fans.

As you finish your work week and prepare for the game, see what’s in The Daily Sauce.

Lead Story

In all white uniforms, including helmets, Florida State football will look to improve to 3-0 and 1-0 in ACC play for the first time since 2015 on Friday night at Louisville. The white helmets, however, aren’t the only thing that’s new.

For the first time in head coach Mike Norvell’s tenure, FSU will be a road favorite on Friday night. According to Bovada, the Seminoles begin Friday as a 3-point favorite.

FSU is coming off an extended rest after topping LSU in a 24-23 thriller in New Orleans on Sept. 4. After getting blasted in its opener at Syracuse, Louisville is coming off a nice 20-14 bounce-back win at UCF.

Both teams will be looking for their first ACC wins. The Cardinals have won the last two in the series and four of the last six. Louisville raced to a 31-7 lead in Tallahassee last season before holding on for a 31-23 victory.

Quarterback Malik Cunningham accounted for four total touchdowns in last season’s Louisville victory. In the loss, the Seminoles were without quarterback Jordan Travis. A Louisville transfer, Travis is off to a solid start in 2022.

Defensively, defensive end Jared Verse and safety Jammie Robinson are among the players to watch for the Seminoles. Friday night’s contest begins at 7:30 p.m. ET and airs on ESPN.
