The Daily Sauce — Sept. 1, 2022: FSU Volleyball Sweeps Florida A&M in Home Opener, 3-0

Florida State volleyball got all it wanted from nearby Florida A&M on Wednesday night, but in the end, the Seminoles won their home opener in straight sets, 3-0.

Florida A&M led 18-12 in the first set and 23-20 late before FSU closed with a 7-2 run to win 27-25. In the third and final set, the Rattlers fought off five straight match points before falling 25-20.

Emily Ryan led FSU with 10 kills while Alejandra Perez added 10 digs in the victory. Brooke Lynn Watts led the Rattlers with eight kills. Brooke Hudson tallied a match-high 16 digs for Florida A&M in the loss.

With the win, FSU improved to 3-1 on the young season. The Seminoles will be back at it on Thursday evening as they host James Madison.

The NCAA has announced transfer windows for the transfer portal, effective immediately.

Baylee Mires has joined the Florida State track and field and cross country program as an assistant coach. She’ll specialize in women’s distance running.

FSU women’s cross country will begin the season ranked 30th in the USTFCCCA Poll. The FSU men received votes.
