The Daily Sauce — Oct. 26, 2022: FSU Soccer Falls to No. 5 in Latest Poll

Happy hump day, Florida State fans.

As your work week starts to wind down, see what’s in The Daily Sauce.

Lead Story

After a 1-1 week that saw Florida State soccer lose a 1-goal match and win another, the Seminoles took a small drop in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.

FSU fell from No. 4 to No. 5 in the latest poll after losing to North Carolina and beating Pittsburgh. For the season, FSU is 11-2-2 as it prepares for the regular season finale and Senior Night at home against Virginia Tech on Thursday night.

At 7-2 in conference, the Seminoles are tied atop the ACC standings. Unfortunately for FSU, the teams it is tied with — North Carolina and Notre Dame — hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Seminoles.

Those schools make up 60% of the top five in the latest Coaches Poll. North Carolina is No. 2 behind only UCLA. Alabama sits in third, ahead of No. 4 Notre Dame and No. 5 FSU.
