It’s Sunday, Florida State fans.
As your weekend comes to a close, see what’s in The Daily Sauce.
One night after shutting out No. 7 TCU, Florida State baseball needed its rally caps. The 24th-ranked Seminoles used a 4-run seventh to top the Horned Frogs at Dick Howser Stadium on Saturday night, 7-3.
Trailing 3-0, FSU tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. After Brett Roberts’ 2-run home run cut the deficit to one, James Tibbs followed with the game-tying solo shot. In the seventh, the Seminoles took their first lead and went ahead for good.
Reese Albert put FSU ahead for good with an RBI single to the opposite field. Two batters later, Logan Lacey created some insurance with a 3-run blast.
Picking up the win for FSU was lefty Wyatt Crowell. Crowell allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out six in 4.2 innings of shutout relief.
Kurtis Byrne drove in the game’s first run for TCU in the second. In the fourth, Porter Brown lifted a 2-run home run to give the Horned Frogs a 3-0 lead.
Both teams finished with nine hits in the contest. Brayden Taylor, Bobby Goodloe and Brown all had two hits for TCU. Tibbs and Jaime Ferrer each had a pair of hits for the Seminoles. Roberts scored two runs in the victory.
With the win, FSU is now a season-high 11 games over .500 at 26-15. The Seminoles will go for the 3-game series sweep at Dick Howser Stadium on Sunday.
