It’s Thursday, Florida State fans.

As you start thinking about the weekend, see what’s in The Daily Sauce.

Lead Story

Florida State women’s hoops guard Ta’Niya Latson’s season ended prematurely due to the injury. The accolades, however, continue to roll in.

This week, Latson was named the Division I National Freshman of the Year by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. Latson previously won the Tamika Catchings Award as the nation’s top freshman.

The ACC’s leading scorer and the record holder for most points by a freshman, Latson averaged 21.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game this season. Latson helped FSU finish 23-10. In her absence, the Seminoles fell to Georgia in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Latson was also named a first-team All-ACC selection this season and the ACC Rookie of the Year. She’s also a finalist for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard Award, which recognizes the nation’s top shooting guard.
