It’s the weekend, Florida State fans.
As you make big plans, see what’s in The Daily Sauce.
The man that Florida State fans refer affectionately to as “Meat” has been canned.
On Friday, FSU announced that it is parting ways with head baseball coach Mike Martin Jr. It will conduct a national search to find his replacement.
Martin finished with a record of 77-50 in three seasons as head coach. Prior to becoming head coach, Martin served as a long-time assistant to his legendary father, Mike Martin Sr. The older Martin won more games than any college baseball coach ever.
Martin also played catcher at FSU from 1993 to 1995. With a new coach, it will mark the first time since 1979 that someone other than a member of the Martin family will lead the Seminoles. Dick Howser last served in that role.
For the second season in a row, FSU was eliminated in the NCAA Regional round. The Seminoles were eliminated on Sunday with a 2-1 loss to UCLA in the Auburn Regional.
