It’s Independence Day, Florida State fans.
As you celebrate or just enjoy the day, see what’s in The Daily Sauce.
Lead Story
For the first time since 2018, Florida State didn’t have a player selected in the NBA Draft, but three undrafted free agents will try to make their presences felt.
John Butler, Malik Osborne and Anthony Polite will all take part in the NBA Las Vegas Summer League. The league lasts from July 7 to July 17.
Butler was recently signed by the New Orleans Pelicans. A 7-foot-1 forward with virtually limitless range, Butler averaged 5.9 points and 3.2 rebounds in his only season at FSU. Butler shot nearly 40% from deep.
Osborne, who will play for the Cleveland Cavaliers, was a leader for the Seminoles before his 2021-22 season was cut short by injury. In 17 games, Osborne averaged 10 points and nearly seven rebounds.
A 5-year player for FSU, Polite will play for the San Antonio Spurs. An FSU legacy, Polite is a big guard with the ability to shoot the 3-pointer and get to the basket. Like Osborne, Polite also had his final season derailed by injuries. He averaged 9.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in 24 games for the Seminoles last season.
Some teams have yet to finalize their Summer League rosters, but a handful of other former FSU players could also be part of the league. RaiQuan Gray and Balsa Koprivica are slated to the play for the Brooklyn Nets and Detroit Pistons, respectively.
