The Daily Sauce — July 2, 2022: FSU Finishes 14th in Directors Cup Standings

After another stellar athletics year, Florida State has notched a top-15 finish in the LEARFIELD Directors Cup.

The Seminoles placed 14th for the 2021-22 academic year. This past season, FSU claimed ACC titles in soccer, softball and men’s outdoor track and field. FSU also won the CCSA title in beach volleyball.

FSU soccer claimed its third national championship since 2014 this past year. In beach volleyball, FSU finished as national runner-up to USC.

Texas topped the final Directors Cup standings, followed by Stanford, Michigan, Ohio State and Florida. North Carolina was the top finisher among ACC schools at sixth overall.

Rolling News and Notes

Alycia (Lisa) Varytimidis has been hired as FSU’s Senior Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator.

In the 2023 ACC/Big Ten Softball Challenge, FSU softball will be placed in Clearwater. It will be joined by Duke and Virginia from the ACC and Indiana, Michigan and Nebraska from the Big Ten.

More than 300 FSU student-athletes made the 2021-22 ACC Academic Honor Roll for their efforts in the classroom.
