The Daily Sauce — Jan. 8, 2022: FSU Adds Albany DE Transfer Verse

It’s the weekend, Florida State fans.

As you prepare for a day with family and friends, see what’s in The Daily Sauce.

Lead Story

Florida State football continues to make additions at positions of need via the transfer portal.

The latest splash came on Friday night as Albany defensive end Jared Verse pledged his services to the Seminoles. In 11 games last season, Verse finished with 52 tackles, 11.5 for loss and 9.5 sacks.

“You will get the best of them every day,” Verse told DFNS about FSU prior to making his commitment. “I will get their best and they expect my best from me. They’ll work me harder than I’ve ever been worked before, but at the end of the day, it’ll pay off.”

At 6-foot-4 and 247 pounds, Verse chose the Seminoles over Miami, Tennessee and Texas among others.

With the losses of Jermaine Johnson II and Keir Thomas, Verse will give FSU a proven pass rusher on the edge. He’s the eighth transfer so far for FSU for 2022.
