With the start of the spring season a little more than a week away, Florida State women’s tennis will begin the year ranked in the top 15.

The Seminoles came in at No. 15 in the preseason ITA rankings on Wednesday. Last season, FSU finished 19-6 before falling to Texas in the Elite Eight.

Petra Hule and Victoria Allen are among the top returning players for the Seminoles. Kentucky transfer Lesedi Jacobs is also expected to be a key player for Jennifer Hyde’s team.

The Seminoles are one of seven ACC teams ranked in the poll. FSU opens the spring season with the USD Invitational in San Diego on Jan. 14.

Scheduled swim meets and women’s basketball games have been canceled or postponed.

FSU women’s hoops’ scheduled contest with Clemson for Thursday night has been postponed. The contest has been rescheduled for Jan. 23.

The Tallahassee Democrat notes that FSU’s Alex Atkins is one of the few Black offensive coordinators in major college football. Being a Black offensive line coach, it notes, is even more rare.
