The Daily Sauce — Jan. 28, 2023: FSU Swimming and Diving Celebrate Senior Day with Sweep of Tampa

It’s the weekend, Florida State fans.

As you execute your big plans, see what’s in The Daily Sauce.

Lead Story

Florida State swimming and diving sent its seniors out with a bang. In the final home meet of the year, 18 seniors were celebrated on Friday.

In the pool and on the board, it was domination for the home team. The No. 16 FSU men blasted Tampa, 152.5-71.5. For the FSU women, it was an even more lopsided 163-61 victory.

Over 56 total events — 28 men’s and 28 women’s — the Spartans won only three. The FSU women swept the 100-meter individual medley with Aryanna Fernandes, Edith Jernstedt, Anna Metzler and Sophie Freeman taking the top four spots.

The FSU men completed a sweep in the 100-yard backstroke. Mason Herbert, Max Wilson and Domen Demsar finished first, second, and third, respectively.

FSU will now head to the Auburn First Chance for a 2-day event on Friday and Saturday. It will be the final event before the ACC Championships.
