The Daily Sauce — Jan. 26, 2023: FSU Softball’s Sandercock, Leonard Named to USA Softball Top 50

With softball season upon us, a pair of Florida State players were named to the preseason USA Softball Player of the Year Top 50.

First baseman Mack Leonard and pitcher Kathryn Sandercock each made the watch list. An Illinois State transfer and the hero of last year’s ACC Championship, Leonard led FSU last season with a .375 batting average. Leonard added eight home runs and 49 RBIs in 2022.

Sandercock finished last season with a record of 30-3 and a stellar 1.44 ERA. Sandercock tallied 159 strikeouts in 194.1 innings.

FSU will open the season at home for the JoAnne Graf Classic against Lipscomb on Feb. 9. To view the full top 50 list from USA Softball, click here.
