It will come as a shock to few, but Florida State softball will begin the 2023 season ranked in the top five nationally. The Seminoles found themselves toward the top of two polls on Tuesday.

FSU will begin the year ranked No. 3 in the Softball America Poll. In the USA Softball Poll, FSU is ranked fourth. Last week, the Seminoles were also ranked No. 4 by D1Softball.

It was a disappointing end to 2022 with FSU dropping a pair of games on the final day of the Tallahassee Regional, but the Seminoles have reloaded for 2023. Kathryn Sandercock headlines the pitching staff while Michaela Edenfield, Mack Leonard, Devyn Flaherty and Kaley Mudge are key pieces to a potent lineup.

Oklahoma was ranked No. 1 in all three polls. FSU will begin the season at home for the JoAnn Graf Classic against Lipscomb on Feb. 9.

FSU women’s hoops remains unranked in the Coaches Poll.
