Another season is underway for Florida State athletics. FSU women’s tennis opened the 2023 season on Friday with a 6-1 win over Florida Gulf Coast.
After taking the doubles point, FSU won five of the six singles matches — all in straight sets. Mila Saric clinched the victory for the Seminoles with a 6-0, 7-6 win over FGCU’s Fanny Norin.
The lone win for the Eagles came from Isabella Colmenares. She defeated FSU’s Olympe Lancelot, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. Also collecting wins for FSU were Anna Arkadianou, Vic Allen, Alice Amendola and Ellie Schoppe.
FSU is off to a 1-0 start for the 13th straight season. The Seminoles will remain home for Sunday duals against Mercer and Florida A&M.
