Florida State women’s basketball used a furious fourth quarter run to defeat Virginia on Thursday night in Charlottesville. The Seminoles erased as 12-point deficit in the final period in a 77-68 win.
An early basket by Virginia in the final quarter gave the Cavaliers a 62-50 lead. FSU responded with 18 straight points to go ahead for good.
The final lead change came with less than five minutes remaining as Valencia Myers knocked down a pair of free throws for FSU. Overall, FSU outscored Virginia 27-8 in the final quarter to run away with the victory.
Sara Bejedi came up big down the stretch for FSU. Bejedi and Ta’Niya Latson each finished with 15 points in the victory. Makayla Timpson added 14 points, 10 rebounds, and six blocks.
Camryn Taylor led Virginia with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Sam Brunelle and London Clarkson each added 11 points in the loss.
With the win, FSU moves to 17-4 for the season and 6-2 in ACC play. The Seminoles will return home to take on Pittsburgh on Sunday.
