After falling at Wake Forest in overtime earlier in the season, Florida State women’s hoops got sweet revenge on Sunday with an emphatic 87-46 victory in Tallahassee.
FSU never trailed in the contest and shot 55% from the field and 8-for-16 from deep. The Seminoles also held Wake Forest to 37% shooting and forced 17 turnovers.
FSU had a healthy 44-28 lead at halftime, but outscored the Demon Deacons 24-6 in the third quarter to put the game away. Makayla Timpson led FSU with 13 points. Valencia Myers and Morgan Jones added 12 and 11 points, respectively, in the win. Christina Morra and Jewel Spear each scored 10 points to lead Wake Forest.
The victory for FSU was its first in more than a month and ends a 4-game losing streak. The Seminoles had not played since Dec. 30 prior to Sunday.
For the season, FSU is now 7-6 and 1-2 in ACC play. The Seminoles are scheduled to visit Georgia Tech on Thursday night.
