IMG Academy OL Jordan Church Recaps Visit, Calling FSU His Top School

Recruiting Another Impact Offensive Lineman

Class of 2023 IMG Academy offensive line prospect Jordan Church spent Saturday visiting Florida State. Church had been on campus twice in the past, but this was his first opportunity for an in-depth look at the inner workings of the program and its current staff.

A Great Visit

“It was amazing,” said Church regarding the visit. “They showed me around, and it was a great campus. The garnet and gold jerseys looked good on me. I talked to Coach (Alex) Atkins. He’s a really down-to-Earth dude. He keeps it real with you and I like that in a coach. I talked to Coach (Mike) Norvell – he gave me a speech, and it was exactly what I wanted to hear.”

Church expanded on his discussions and relationship with Atkins.

“I feel like that’s a coach I can trust,” said Church. “When he recruits, he’s not going to sugar-coat anything. He’s going to keep it real 24/7. He’s going to push you. It’s not going to be a cakewalk. He says that some days I’m going to hate him, and he’s going to push me to my limits. I like that because it’s only going to make me better.”

Before leaving campus, Church met with head coach Mike Norvell. A consistent message and similar impression were left by the head coach.

“He was basically telling me the same thing (as Atkins). He said that some days I will hate him too. He was asking me if I want to be a good player or a great player and explained the difference between those two. I told him that I want to be a great player, so he told me to come here, and he would show me how to become a great player.”

While he is currently playing offensive tackle at IMG Academy, Church said he will most likely play guard at the next level.

Florida State became Church’s first offer on May 18 of last year. Louisville, FAMU, and Ole Miss has since offered, with West Virginia also heavily involved.

Where Does FSU Stand With Church?

Church said FSU is his leader “so far” in his recruitment.

“I’ve always felt great about the Seminoles,” revealed Church. “When they first offered me, I knew this school would always be in my top choices. That really motivated me more to keep pushing. That was like the best day of my life.”
