DL Prospect Ka’Shawn Thomas Liking FSU “A Lot” After Visit on Saturday

South Georgia DL Recruiting

Class of 2023 Brunswick (Ga.) High School defensive lineman prospect Ka’Shawn Thomas enjoyed a day trip to FSU on Saturday alongside some of his coaching staff and Brunswick teammates.

“It was great,” said Thomas regarding the visit. “Coach (Mike) Norvell showed me around. He showed me the atmosphere, the history of Florida State”

What Stood Out for Ka’Shawn?

Though this was his first-time meeting with FSU interior defensive line coach Odell Haggins, Thomas considered the conversations between them as the highlight of the trip.

“What stood out most was the defensive line coach (Odell Haggins) being so real with me. He won’t sugar-coat nothing with you, and he’ll tell you what you need to work on in your game and what is great about your game.”

Haggins and the FSU staff like the 6-foot-2, 315-pounder on the interior of the defensive line, whether it be at nose tackle or the 3-tech.

Thomas also shares a relationship with first-year FSU offensive lineman Kanaya Charlton, as they both come from Brunswick High School. Thomas revealed some of what Charlton said about the staff since enrolling a couple of weeks ago.

“He was real too. He texted me the first week and told me how it was. He’s telling me that it’s true what (the coaches) are telling me.”

Other Schools Involved?

Outside of Florida State, Thomas said he has been hearing a lot from Auburn, South Carolina, and Georgia Tech. How does Thomas feel about FSU after the visit?

“I like (FSU) a lot. I like Coach (Mike) Norvell, he’s a good dude. I like Coach Haggins a lot too.”
