Seminole Sunday Sauce — Aug. 13, 2023: FSU Football Begins No. 8 in Coaches Poll
Florida State football finished in the top 10 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll last season. That’s where it’ll begin in 2023.
The Seminoles were ranked eighth in the preseason poll. FSU is the highest ranked team in the ACC and the state of Florida.
FSU is coming off a 10-3 finish in 2022 and a Cheez-It Bowl win over Oklahoma. The Seminoles closed the year on a 6-game winning streak.
FSU returns a number of key contributors, including quarterback Jordan Travis, running back Trey Benson, wide receiver Johnny Wilson, defensive end Jared Verse and more. The Seminoles also added a number of talented players via the transfer portal.
Entering its fourth season under head coach Mike Norvell, FSU was ranked behind Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, USC and Penn State. The Seminoles open in Orlando against No. 5 LSU on Sept. 3.
