Seminole Sunday Sauce — Feb. 25, 2024: FSU Beach Volleyball Opens 2024 Season with Three Sweeps in Jacksonville

While Florida State’s swimming and diving and track and field teams participated in the ACC Championships this week, one new season was just getting started.

No. 3 Florida State beach volleyball kicked off the year with three wins in Jacksonville at the Dolphin Duels on Friday. All three victories were 5-0 sweeps.

FSU opened the season with a 5-0 victory over Coastal Carolina with four of the match wins coming in straight sets. Alli Hansen and Anna Long were pushed to three sets but ultimately prevailed over Coastal Carolina’s Raychel Ehlers and Madison Allred.

FSU dropped just two sets in its win over North Florida. Raelyn White and Audrey Koenig overcame a first-set loss for the Seminoles to take the final two. Skyler Germann and Madison Binkley got all they wanted from North Florida’s Hallie Phelan and Iris Fletcher, but held on for a 21-12, 21-23, 17-15 victory.

FSU wrapped up the day with a 5-0 win over host Jacksonville. The Seminoles didn’t lose a single set.

Off to a 3-0 start, FSU will play at home for the first time this coming weekend as it hosts the Seminole Beach Bash. Prior to the start of the season, Maddie Anderson was named preseason CCSA Player of the Year. Long and Alexis Durish were each named preseason All-CCSA.
