DFNS Staff 2022 Football Predictions: Wake Forest

The 2022 season is here, and with it come staff predictions! FSU versus Wake Forest, who will win?

After blowing out Boston College at home, Florida State finds themselves undefeated coming out of September. Ranked 23rd, and for the first time since their pre-season ranking in 2018, the Seminoles are riding a high heading into Homecoming weekend. Their opponent: the 22nd-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Our staff shares their thoughts.

Some Notes

Florida State fans must wait in anticipation on news of whether starters such as Jared Verse, Robert Scott, and Malcolm Ray return in this matchup against Wake Forest. Additionally, starters such as Fabian Lovett and Amari Gainer are still recovering after injuries sustained in previous matchups against LSU and Duquesne. Others, such as Winston Wright Jr. have yet to see the field after being injured during the off-season. FSU has already lost Bless Harris, Kayden Lyles, and Stephen Dix Jr. to season-ending injuries.

The Seminoles are optimistic that the injuries (outside of season-ending injuries) aren’t severe and that many of these players will return to the rotation soon (potentially as soon as this weekend).

Bryan

Prediction: “OT. Somebody else comes in and kicks it. Anyone else.”

Score: FSU 31 – WF 28

Ed

Prediction: “Despite Dave Clawson’s moaning over the horrific conditions in Tallahassee due to Hurricane Ian, Wake Forest comes away from this with a victory. Jordan Travis has the Seminoles driving down the field to win the game, however, an unfortunately timed gust of wind from the Hurricane results in his touchdown-winning pass to swipe instead into the unsuspecting hands of a Wake Forest defender.”

Score: FSU 24 – WF 27

Mike F

Prediction: “Sam Hartman will be a handful for FSU to handle, but the Seminoles have the better defense and rushing attack. Having the home field should also be an advantage.”

Score: FSU 34 – WF 31

Shawn

Score: FSU 42 – WF 28
