DFNS Staff 2022 Football Predictions: Louisville

The 2022 season is here, and with it come staff predictions! FSU versus Louisville, who will win?

The Seminoles shocked the world when they took down LSU in New Orleans. They enjoyed the bye week and now make their way to Louisville for a Friday night matchup against the Cardinals.

Our staff shares their thoughts.

Some Notes

Bless Harris (OL) is out with a season-ending injury suffered against Duquesne. He did not suit up against LSU. In his stead was Jazston Turnetine, who performed well in his starting debut against LSU. Otherwise, Florida State returns all of their starters for the matchup against Louisville, according to their Depth Chart released Monday, September 12th, 2022.

Double Fries No Slaw Staff Predictions:

TJ

Prediction: TJ gives his thoughts at the 1:02:31 mark.

Score: FSU 31 – LOU 21

Richie

Prediction: Richie gives his thoughts at the 1:00:04 mark.

Score: FSU 27 – LOU 23

Harlan

Prediction: “After re-watching Louisville’s defense, I don’t see why FSU wouldn’t run the ball 45 times on Friday. Malik Cunningham’s legs scare me a lot… I see him having success. But give me the Noles 350 yards + on the ground being the deciding factor wearing that below-average Louisville defense down in the second half. Noles improve to 3-0.

Score: FSU 42 – LOU 24

Bryan

Prediction: “FSU will own the clock on the ground and keep the ball away from Malik, even going fast. Noles go to 3-0 and let the record show, unlike some of my colleagues here, I’m undefeated as well and not flipped my picks around.”

Score: FSU 32 – LOU 17

Ed

Prediction: “The CLIMB is not linear, but rather moments of peaks and valleys. From time to time, you will stumble. I think Louisville may have found itself against UCF this past week. FSU comes into the away atmosphere cocky and high off of LSU, and Louisville takes advantage of a team that is better than them. The birds pull the upset in front of the home crowd.”

Score: FSU 21 – LOU 27

Mike F

Prediction: “LSU’s Jayden Daniels carved the Florida State defense up with his legs last time out and Louisville’s Malik Cunningham can do likewise. Defensively, the Seminoles must force him to win the game with his arm. The good news for FSU is that Louisville struggles to stop the run. FSU eclipsed the 200-yard rushing mark in last season’s 31-23 loss to the Cardinals in Tallahassee last season and averaged 5.7 yards per carry. If FSU can force Louisville to creep up defensively, Jordan Travis and the Seminoles can make plays over the top. At 2-0, it will be interesting to see how FSU handles success. The last time that the Seminoles started 3-0 and won their ACC opener was in 2015. They did so on the road and a Friday night.”

Score: FSU 26 – LOU 20

Mike S

Prediction: “I think FSU gets the ground game going again. Ward and Benson have a big night against the Louisville front. Defense steps up and plays their best game all season.”

Score: FSU 34 – LOU 20

Shawn

Prediction: “In years past, I’d consider this a ‘trap game’ for FSU coming off the big win. But, knowing Norvell doesn’t want to get embarrassed again, and seeing how he already addressed this at the beginning of last week, I think he has the guys ready to play and play well.”

Score: FSU 35 – LOU 17
