Labor Day Weekend Recap of FSU Athletics

This week in FSU Athletics…

FSU added more sports to the fall schedule, as cross country and football started wearing the Seminole jersey for another season.

Football is Back!

TJ Pittinger attended the FSU Football game on Sunday night. He recapped his experience covering the game here.

Soccer Chopped the Gators

The Noles were back in the Plex on Thursday night with a huge crowd that had fans standing around the pitch. After giving away the first goal, the Noles struck back scoring five goals, crushing the Gators’ small hopes at the beginning of the game. At the end of 90 minutes the score was 5-2 FSU, sending the Gators home with a heavy defeat.

Goal scorers include Jaelin Howell, two from Clara Robbins, and two from Beata Olsson. Olsson scored a magnificent goal which lead her to be the second Nole making it on the SCTop 10 this season.

Volleyball Goes 3 for 3 at Home

FSU volleyball had their first tournament at home this season, facing three opponents, Tulane, Samford, and VCU. The Noles defeated Tulane first 25-23, 25-13, 25-13 in a convincing win. Next up was Samford, who the Noles dismantled again 25-11, 25-22, 25-22. Later that  day, they were back on the court for their final game of the tournament against VCU, who also were undefeated up to this point. The Noles won again in straight sets 25-19, 25-18, 25-18, defending their home court in style.

Both FSU men’s and women’s cross country teams swept the Covered Bridge Open in North Carolina, as the women won the 5k with 26 points, and the men won the 8k with 36 points.
