Opening Week Odds for Notre Dame at FSU

Good Teams Win, Great Teams Cover

Well, in 2020, FSU was neither of those things. Each day we move close to seeing if the ‘Noles can improve from a rocky first season under Head Coach Mike Norvell, and Vegas recently put out their first bit of expectations.

The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame travel to Tallahassee on for a 7:30 PM kickoff on September 5, and some sports books already have betting odds out. Draft Kings has Notre Dame favored by 9.5 points, while Fan Duel has Notre Dame by an even 9.

What Does This Mean?

Well, if you were to base it off of last season, it could mean a blowout incoming for the Seminoles to endure. In 2020, FSU was just 2-7 against the spread. Notre Dame was considerably better, posting a 6-6 record. Last season is in the past, and there have been many moving pieces since we last saw Florida State take the field against Duke. That game, by the way, was a game in which the ‘Noles did in fact cover the spread.

One thing is certain, however, and that is a smart bettor would take the over. “Life’s too short to bet the under,” and in games featuring these two schools last season, the over hit 12 out of 21 times– FSU’s over hit six out of nine games played, while the over in Notre Dame games also hit six times.

The over/under hasn’t been set yet, but keep an eye out for that bet. Or, if you want to play it safe, there’s always the moneyline.
